Sustainability & EUDR Statement

Royal Spices Guatemala S.A. is committed to deforestation-free, socially fair and ecologically sound production across cardamom, coffee, allspice, black pepper and Chile Cobanero.

Last updated · May 2026

1. EUDR Compliance (EU 2023/1115)

All cardamom and coffee shipments destined for the European Union are produced on plots whose geolocation coordinates have been recorded and verified to be deforestation-free with reference cut-off date of 31 December 2020. We retain due-diligence statements (DDS), polygon data and risk-assessment files for at least five (5) years and provide DDS reference numbers to EU operators upon shipment.

2. Deforestation-Free Sourcing

Royal Spices sources exclusively from registered farms in Alta Verapaz, Baja Verapaz, Izabal, Huehuetenango and the Guatemalan Pacific belt. No farm in our supply chain has cleared primary forest after 2020. Compliance is verified through satellite monitoring (Global Forest Watch / Forest Data Partnership) cross-referenced with our farm registry.

3. Producer Communities

We work directly with Q'eqchi', Poqomchi' and Mam producer families through long-term offtake agreements and pre-harvest financing at concessional rates. We pay above-market premiums for verified-quality and certified-organic lots and publish our reference price-grid annually.

4. Shade-Grown & Agroforestry

More than 90% of our cardamom and coffee volume is grown under native canopy (Inga, Grevillea, cacao and citrus shade trees), preserving migratory bird habitat and soil carbon. We discourage full-sun monoculture and do not source from such plots.

5. Water, Soil & Inputs

Wet-milling operations re-use process water through settling and bio-filter ponds; pulp is composted and returned to the farms as organic matter. Synthetic agro-chemicals listed in the FAO/WHO Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHP) list and the Stockholm/Rotterdam Conventions are prohibited across our supply base.

6. Human Rights & Labour

We adhere to the ILO core conventions: no child labour, no forced labour, freedom of association and non-discrimination. Seasonal workers receive at least the Guatemalan agricultural minimum wage, formal contracts, IGSS social-security coverage and on-site potable water and sanitation.

7. Reporting

An annual Sustainability & Impact Report is available on request from info@royalspices.com.gt. Buyers requiring CSRD, SBTi or carbon-footprint data are supported with primary farm-level information.
